I’m a counsellor who specializes in addiction, sports psychology, and individual counselling for anxiety and depression for adults and youth aged 14 and up. I received my Masters of Counselling from Athabasca University and I am currently in application to become a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. My journey as a counsellor began with my work experiences on the front line in schools, homeless shelters and youth treatment centres. I work from a feminist framework that seeks equality for all and I pride myself on holding space for all identities in my counselling office.
I believe that change can happen by empowering an individual’s personal strengths and through positively utilizing external supports. My therapeutic approaches involve empirically-based techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Somatic therapy and Eco/Nature-therapy. These approaches incorporate mindfulness practices that help regulate your nervous system and slow down breathing, so you can focus on what is really important. In sessions I enjoy helping clients identify personal values and then integrate them into daily actions. I prioritize building strong client-therapist relationships and maintaining a calm, non-judgemental demeanour so I can hold space when clients need someone to listen.
Outside of counselling you’ll find me enjoying Revelstoke's beautiful nature through snowboarding, swimming in lakes or hiking mountains, and on rainy days I’ll be inside working on arts and crafts or curled up with a good book.
